We've been thinking a lot recently about what our building means and how it suits our purpose. After much discussion and prayer, we have decided to start pursuing the church Masterplan in phases - transforming our existing building into a space that will be more accessible, useful and environmentally conscious.

Our Shared Church Council has taken the decision to go ahead with a pre-application for our building project to Guildford planning dept, drawn up by our architect. This has been viewed very favourably by the planning dept and so SCC have approved having more formal drawings of the planned building works be drawn up by our architect and submitted for formal approval. To support this application, we have had a Bat survey and site survey undertaken.

If you would like to donate specifically towards our building project, you can use the QR code above. If you don't use Givt but would like to donate, please contact the office to find out how.

Priorities for our new and refurbished buildings. Workshop Saturday 26th June at 10:30am. Will you come?

Did you know that we are planning to refresh and update our building (to better serve our community)?

To prepare for this, we are running a “what should be the priorities” workshop on Saturday 26th June at 10:30am in church. These priorities could be anything from:

  1. Toddler group
  2. Cook and eat sessions
  3. Older people (meeting point etc.)
  4. Children and young people
  5. Community celebrations, (for example birthday parties)
  6. After school clubs
  7. Providing space for education, training, and employment
  8. Providing space for initiatives supporting healthy and fulfilling lives
  9. Etc..

The list is endless… But what is important to you?

The priorities workshop will be structured as follows:

  1. What are the “facts” of our community? For example: did you know Stoke ward is classified by Surrey County Council as the 4th most deprived ward in Surrey?
  2. How can we resource this and find funds to make it happen? (What is important to the potential funding organisations that we could approach for the money we will inevitably need?)
  3. What is important to us?
  4. We will then attempt to bring together (synthesise) the above answers to arrive at an initial list of areas that our new buildings could serve and projects that could flow from it.

We need people from diverse backgrounds to take part in the workshop. If there are too many wanting to take part, then we may run the workshop more than once. If you don’t think this is your cup of tea, but you know someone in the wider community you think could be ideal, then please feel free to forward this invite. All we ask is that they either live in the parish or are part of St Peter’s church.

Please express your interest in taking part in the workshop to the church office by Friday 18th June.  office@stpetersguildford.org.

We expect the workshop to start at 10:30am and finish at 1pm.
